Photo and description of violets by Alina Volskaya

Alen-117

This is new for 2022 . Saintpaulia variety Alen-117 has semi-double large pink inflorescences with fancy purple speckles . The edges of the petals have a corrugated greenish border.

The rosette is standard , the leaf blades are green, round, wavy along the edge. At high temperatures, the fancy coating becomes pale, and the border acquires a burgundy-greenish color.

The Alen-117 variety easily goes into sport if it is propagated by cuttings and leaf blades. This is expressed in the fact that the fantasy color of the flower disappears and the greenish ruffle along the edges of the petal disappears.

Advice! To preserve the variety, propagation is carried out by stepsons or peduncles.

Alen-Electric Blue (Electric Blue)

Semi-double, 5-6 cm, white flower with blue streaks and a wide green ruffle along the edge of the petals . Abundant, bouquet flowering on short peduncles, so at the time of growing them, the violet should reduce the light output.

The leaf blades are light green in color with a wavy edge. The rosette is small, symmetrical, and holds its shape well . At the first flowering, the buds are smaller than the stated size.

The temperature is standard: +18-23°C. In cool rooms, the green ruffle becomes even wider, and the blue color is almost lost, but the flowering period increases.

The violet variety Alen-Electric Blue can go into sports. At the same time, the green edging of the petals is lost and the density of the ruffles decreases.

Alen-Pink Kiss

Semi-double, bright pink , medium-sized pom-poms, as if glowing from within. Along the edge of the petals there is a corrugated dark pink border. Flowering is cap , almost endless.

Medium standard with a smooth, neat rosette with green, pointed leaf blades.

The Alen-Pink Kiss variety is quite young, so statistics on the use of violets in sports have not yet been accumulated . A flowering specimen was first presented at a photo competition for violet collectors in 2015.

Alain-Anabel

Extraordinary, dark beetroot velvet stars that practically do not fade in the sun. The wavy edges of the petals are lighter in color. Already at the first flowering, the violet is ready to produce a head of buds.

The socket is standard, smooth, and easily formed by itself . Dark green shiny leaf blades.

The Alen-Anabel variety grows quickly, is unpretentious in care, and was bred in 2015. Flowering is abundant and long lasting.

Keeping it at a low temperature gives a lighter, sometimes almost white, border along the edges of the petals and semi-double inflorescences.

Attention! When propagated by cuttings or leaf blades, it can become a sport. The stars do not open completely, but keep the shape of a large bell, losing their velvety and deep beetroot color.

Alen-Crimson Rivers

A young standard variety, presented in 2016 at an exhibition in Kiev. With simple deep red stars. The center of the flower is darker and velvety, the edges of the petals are wavy.

Light green, slightly quilted, rounded foliage on a neat rosette. A hat with medium-sized flowers.

Statistics on the use of the Alen-Crimson Rivers variety for sports have not yet been accumulated. The content is standard.

Allen-Barcelona

Violets are distinguished by densely double, pink roses with a greenish carved edge . Abundant bouquet flowering. The shade is very beautiful, clean and delicate. Before dissolving, the underside of the petals is a delicate salad color.

A standard rosette with wavy, medium green leaf blades. Saintpaulia care and maintenance are standard.

The Alain-Barcelona variety can become a sport, losing the fullness of the flowers , but maintaining their charming color.

Alen-Cloudless Sky

Huge, almost 9 cm, stars from bright to soft blue color with a white center , long-lasting and abundant flowering. Each peduncle can have 3-5 buds. Stars cover a display rosette of medium green leaves with a cap.

The rosette is quite large , 18-20 cm, smooth, quilted, pointed leaf plates.

The Alen-Bezloknoe Nebo variety is very easy to grow, bouquet, and grows quickly. There has been no sign of any interest in sports yet.

Attention! At a temperature of +24°C, the color of the petals fades and the white center becomes less contrasting.

Alen-Buzkova Serenade

Violet is distinguished by double, lush, lilac flowers of several tones , but without blue, with a brighter edging of the petals.

There are a lot of buds, the first ones are larger, then smaller. Inflorescences last for more than 2 months . Abundant cap flowering.

The neat rosette of dark green pointed leaves is quite large. The leaf plates are even and lie beautifully.

Important! The peduncles are short, so it is necessary to reduce the light output so as not to remove the buds from under the leaves.

The sport variety Alen-Buzkova Serenada is distinguished by double, lush, light-colored flowers with a slight lilac tint, with a darker eye and a thin edging.

It has a neat rosette of light green pointed leaves. Abundant cap flowering.

Alain-Velour

Saintpaulia with large, 6-7 cm, dark purple-violet velvet stars. Petals with a greenish, highly corrugated edge. It is distinguished by abundant cap flowering the first time.

Neat standard socket . Slightly wavy, scalloped, dark green foliage with a beet-like underside. To start flowering, the violet needs to gain mass, that is, grow several rows of leaves. Peduncles are tall and strong.

The Alain-Velour variety can be used for sports . At the same time, the color of the flowers changes from purple to fuchsia. The strong corrugation of the petals is lost.

The leaf plates of the rosette lose their waviness and become lighter. To prevent Saintpaulia from becoming a sport, it is preferable to propagate it by peduncles or stepsons.

Alen-Viking

Violet has dark blue disc flowers . The edges of the petals are distinguished by rich ruffles, which may have a greenish tint. The color changes - in different lighting the flower looks either blue or purple.

The bouquets formed by violets are not very large, but against the background of light foliage they look very impressive. The peduncles are low, so Saintpaulia does not require bright lighting.

The Alen-Viking variety grows quickly and blooms readily . It was first presented at the exhibition in 2017.

The standard rosette has slightly wavy, medium green leaf blades. The leaves look like they also have ruffles on them. The edges are carved.

At high temperatures the color is not as dark and has a purple tint.

Alen the Proud Giant

The variety is distinguished by very large double flowers of a carmine-wine color . It is difficult for a camera to correctly convey the color of the bud of this Saintpaulia: a mixture of plum tone with dark cherry. Depending on the lighting, the flowers appear either more crimson or dark purple with redness.

Abundant flowering and large buds the first time. Tall strong peduncles.

A large rosette of oblong, medium green leaf blades. It looks large because of the young leaves on long petioles. Older leaf blades are already more compact. Large dark flowers on light foliage look very impressive.

The sport of the Alen-Proud Giant variety is no less beautiful than its ancestor: large terry pompoms, 6-7 cm, with a white border along the edge of the purple petals.

Alain-Josephine

A standard violet with a large bouquet of blue and white bells with a wavy edge. Very delicate, with a clear chimeric blue pattern. Flowers last a long time.

A compact, even rosette of quilted, medium green leaves. The variety gained fame in 2016.

Attention! At high temperatures, the flower loses its chimeric color. To preserve the color, violets should be propagated by peduncles.

Alen-Zarevo

The violet is distinguished by very large, 7 cm, semi-double, white stars with a red edge and raspberry-lilac radiation from the center along dense petals. Blooms with a cap.

Relatively large socket . Green rounded scalloped leaves. At low temperatures, the color of the buds is more white, and at high temperatures - pink.

The Alen-Zarevo variety was presented at the exhibition in 2016.

Alen-Zemfira

Huge, 8 cm, double and semi-double flowers with a good dark beet color . They stand out in bright contrast against the bright green foliage.

After the first full flowering, the rosettes do not grow long-petioled leaves. They look neater than at a younger age. The rows of leaf plates close together, there are no holes. The socket is powerful and fast-growing.

The variety has been known since 2015.

Allen-Cambodia

Violet with large, heavily terry white pompoms with thick, bright green ruffles.

Light green, glossy, wavy foliage with a lighter underside.

The buds look like cabbage heads. Saintpaulia was presented at the exhibition in 2015.

Important! In pots with a diameter of 9 cm, the rosette will be slightly more compact. And at high temperatures, the center of the buds acquires a reddish tint.

The Alain-Cambodia variety can be used for sports . The flower becomes semi-double, white in color, with a not very thick lemon-colored ruffle.

New for 2022. The leaf blades are variegated, the rosette is standard, the number of buds on the peduncle is 2-3, the diameter of the flower is 6 cm.

Alen-Brushes of Hops

The flowers are double, of an original shape, greenish-white, with a pink tint. The buds resemble hop cones . Flowering is abundant, the head of flowers almost completely covers the leaves.

The rosette is compact , with emerald leaf plates.

Alen-Commander

The flowers of this violet are medium-sized, single or semi-double with an expressive green edge, piercing blue in color. The buds may not open completely.

At low temperatures the border becomes more expressive. The flower opens for a long time, lasts 2-3 weeks.

At high temperatures, its color and ruffles fade and become uneven. Blooms profusely.

The socket is large . The leaf blades are curly and dark green. There are expressive notches along the edge of the leaf plates.

Dark leaf blades form a neat rosette. Blooms profusely.

Alen-Konvalia

Alen-Koshtovne Kaminnya

Saintpaulia with semi-double crimson flowers and a fantasy pattern of purple color . There are white stars in the center, and green fringe along the edges of the petals.

The socket is standard , with corrugated dark green sheet plates. Variety 2016.

The sport variety Alen-Koshtovne Kaminnya has blue flowers, corrugated light green ruffles along the edges of the petals. A standard rosette of wavy dark green leaves.

Alain-Laetitia

Double, soft lilac flowers, 5-6 cm, with a darker fantasy pattern. The variety is unstable - sporting inflorescences may appear on the varietal rosette.

Important! If there is such a trend, then over time Saintpaulia may go into sports. To be on the safe side, you need to root a peduncle from a fantasy flower.

The rosette is good , the leaf is dark green and wavy. The petioles and peduncles are long. To avoid this, it is necessary to provide the violet with more light.

Saintpaulia blooms profusely and produces many buds.

The sport variety Alain-Laetitia may have pink or lilac double flowers, a medium-sized rosette with dark green, wavy leaf plates. Inflorescences last longer than on varietal plants.

Alain the Bat

Violet with white, large stars and purple strokes from the center.

Alain-Mia

Herbaceous green quilted foliage on a standard rosette.

Alain-Pink Cotton

The description of this variety reads as follows: “ Double, creamy white lush flowers with pink impregnation from the center . Abundant cap flowering. A neat rosette of medium green simple leaves. Standard ."

And this is the case when sport turned out to be better than variety . The sport variety Alen-Pink Cotton can be described as follows: peony-shaped, densely double, neon, bright pink flowers on strong, high shoots. The buds last up to one and a half months. Abundant cap flowering.

Attention! At high temperatures, the white color begins to disappear from the petals, and at cool temperatures, the crimson tone remains only along the edges.

Alen-North Wind

The small rosette has smooth, rounded leaf plates. At high temperatures, flower stalks and cuttings are drawn out, and the color of the buds becomes darker.

At the same time, flowers of different colors coexist on the plant. Such violets are called ghosts.

The rosette is standard , compact, with medium green leaves. Flowering is abundant and caplike.

Attention! Chameleon violets convey the characteristics of their leaf color well; they do not have to be propagated by stepsons or peduncles.
