Why is aichrizon called the tree of love?

This is an unusual decorative home succulent, which is not only an apartment decoration, but is also capable of attracting love and prosperity into the home with its positive aura and energy.

The pubescent green leaves are heart-shaped. It is not for nothing that people call this exotic culture the tree of love.

Since ancient times, it was customary to give aichrizon to newlyweds on their wedding day. According to signs, it was believed that he would bring love, mutual understanding and prosperity to the spouses. For young people, such a gift became a talisman of fidelity and love. In addition, according to signs, the original shape of the foliage suggests that aichrizon will certainly bring happiness to its owners in love and help them find family peace and tranquility.

What does the flower symbolize?

Aichrizon grows in the Canary and Azores Islands, southern Europe and Morocco. The plant includes about 15 varieties. The following species are grown at home:

  • sedum leaf;
  • loose (prostrate);
  • point;
  • winding.

Due to the well-known signs and characteristics of care, homemade aichrizon is considered the most common. The name of the flower is of Greek origin. In translation, aichrizon means eternally golden.

Flower growers note that the name of the plant fully corresponds to its characteristics. Aichrizon has a long flowering period. At this time, the crown is strewn with numerous small star-shaped flowers.

Aichrizon has a small height, up to 40 cm. The plant is branched with rather fleshy and voluminous leaves, the shape of which resembles a heart. The leaves are covered with small fibers. It is thanks to its shape that the plant is also called the tree of love.

Attention! The plant symbolizes happiness in family life and well-being. In another way, the flower is called the tree of happiness.

What signs and superstitions are there associated with aichrison?

There are many superstitions and signs associated with the attractive exotic tree of love. A tree of love and happiness is placed in a house to improve the psychological microclimate and maintain harmony in the family.

Signs associated with aichrison:

  1. Flowering indicates that understanding and harmony reign in the house. Withering, on the contrary, signals problems in the relationship between spouses.
  2. If the leaves begin to fall off the aichrizone, it is better to remove it. According to superstition, falling leaves can bring poverty and cool relations between spouses into the house.
  3. If you take good care of the aichrizon and keep it in good condition, there will never be cheating in the couple.
  4. Abundant flowering for unmarried girls and unmarried men predicts the approach of a wedding. Fading indicates that separation may be approaching.

ATTENTION! In order for your family to have peace and comfort, you need to take good care of the aichrison and monitor its condition.

Air care at home

According to signs, the flowering of a plant is essential. The appearance of flowers is directly related to adequate care of airborne soil. The tree needs soil with mandatory drainage. Water the flower sparingly. Excessive watering can lead to root rot, which is also a bad sign.

The tree of love needs plenty of light to maintain its blooms. However, the light must be diffused. Otherwise, the leaves may burn. In sunny weather, the air zone can be darkened using blinds or tulle curtains.

In summer, the temperature should be up to 25 °C, and in winter – up to 10 °C. The temperature difference will ensure long flowering. Transplantation is carried out as the tree grows.

Important! Flowering can last up to six months. During this period, the plant sheds most of its leaves. This phenomenon should not be regarded as a bad omen.

After the flowers disappear, the peduncles are cut off. Elongated and weak branches should also be cut off after wintering. This promotes crown formation.

Since aichrizon is a succulent, it does not tolerate excessive moisture. Otherwise, root rot may occur. The tree of love responds well to dry air. It does not require regular spraying.

The need for watering can be judged by the condition of the leaves and crown. If it springs back when pressed with your hand, there is sufficient accumulated moisture. The wrinkled appearance of the leaves indicates the time of watering.

Important! In winter, the flower is placed in a cool place or foam is placed under the pot as protection from overheating.

The cuttings of the plant must be bought or obtained secretly, this is important . The donated plant will not have such a pronounced effect. Although, in this case, you can give away a coin.

If the plant begins to bud, you can prepare for the fact that a companion will appear in the lives of single men.

If the heart is not free, and the aichrizon has bloomed profusely, it is time to prepare for the wedding.

But a fading love tree suggests that the relationship may be a warning sign.

Planting and propagation methods

It is not difficult to obtain new specimens of the plant. There are several methods of reproduction.

Seeds

The first is seed cultivation. This method requires compliance with the following requirements:

  1. Take small containers with low sides.
  2. Fill them with substrate, which includes 2 parts of leaf soil and 1 part of purified sand. Place the seeds in a 0.5 cm container.
  3. Cover the containers with film or a glass plate. The result is a kind of mini-greenhouse. It must be left in a bright and warm place with a temperature of +20°C.
  4. The soil surface should be regularly sprayed with clean water from a spray bottle, and the container should also be ventilated by removing the lid. These procedures need to be done once a day.

After a couple of weeks, the first shoots appear. When the seedlings have formed 3-4 true leaves, the young plants can be transplanted into one large container, but a minimum of 5 cm should be left between plants. It is necessary to use a soil substrate of a different composition. Leaf soil is mixed with sand in equal parts, and another part of turf is added. Immature plants should be protected from direct sunlight.

The final transplantation of young crops is carried out in separate containers. Their diameter should be up to 7 cm. At the bottom of the container you need to place drainage (small stones), and then fill in the substrate. Use soil that is intended exclusively for succulents. It is necessary to moisten the plantings in small portions almost every day. Overflow should not be allowed.

Cuttings

The second method of obtaining an independent plant is considered a simpler and faster option. Cuttings are carried out in early spring. The material for planting is selected from the trimmed shoots that were obtained after the crown was formed. The cutting should be about 9 cm in length. It should be dried in the shade for two hours.

Further cuttings are carried out using one of two methods:

  1. Place the cuttings in boiled and cooled water and add activated carbon. Keep in a container with liquid until roots appear.
  2. Place the cutting directly into a substrate that is intended exclusively for growing succulents (you can purchase a ready-made one or make it yourself). You can also use vermiculite and sand. The substrate must be pre-moistened.

When the shoots take root, they can be replanted according to the rules corresponding to adult plants.

Such specimens will develop much faster than those obtained by seed. A feature of aichrizon is that you can root even one leaf when you cannot find a suitable healthy shoot.

Varieties and photos

This flower belongs to a small genus with only 15 representatives. Below are photos, names and descriptions of Aichrizon varieties suitable for propagation and care at home:

Spot

This is a small succulent, the stems of which can stretch up to 15-40 cm. Greenish-brown shoots are covered with whitish pubescence. Green leaves, the shape of which can be compared to a diamond, are arranged in the form of rosettes. Compared to the stems, the leaves have slight pubescence. Yellow flowers, resembling stars in appearance, are located inside the inflorescence of a loose shield. Flowering lasts about six months, which causes the bush to be covered with a veil of stars. The photo below shows Aichrizon Spot:

Sedumfolia

This variety is a subshrub. Its height is 15-40 cm, and its crown diameter is 13 cm. On thin straight stems there are six-centimeter rosettes of fleshy club-shaped leaves, not covered with pile. The green leaves with a yellowish tint reach 1.5 cm in length and red stripes can be clearly seen on their surface.

The sedum-leaved species blooms for only 2 months, starting in May. Yellow-golden flowers form inflorescences 7 cm long. During flowering and during the dormant period, partial fall of the leaves is possible.

Winding

This is a small, neat shrub, reaching 15-30 cm in both length and width. The fleshy leaves are covered with silvery fibers , which look beautiful on the faded green plate. Short-petioled leaves, reaching 1.5 cm and 1 cm wide, are collected in rosettes. Flowering lasts six months, like other species of aichrizona. You can see what the Aichrizon Izvilisty variety looks like in the photo below:

Loose

Aichrizon loose (prostrate in another way) grows small - 30-40 cm in height, and the crown size is on average 20-40 cm. The long-petioled leaves are covered with short light hairs. The length of the leaves is 1.5-3 cm and the width is 1 cm. The inflorescences, forming a brush, are on average 30 cm in length and consist of small golden flowers.

Home

This variety was bred by breeders by crossing two types of aichrizon: tortuous and point. A spherical bush is formed due to good branching of the plant. The width and length of the plant are on average 15-30 cm. Fleshy leaves, growing up to 1.5-2 cm in length and up to 1 cm in width, create rosettes. The club-shaped leaf plate is covered with small silvery hairs.

The peduncles are long (reach 2/3 of the bush) completely strewn with small fragrant flowers of yellow shades . With proper care, the flowering period reaches 6 months. In the photo below is the Aichrizon Domashny variety:

Who shouldn't keep aichrizon at home?

The magical abilities of the flower harm anyone, so in this regard, aichrizon is completely safe.

In accordance with superstition, families with small children should not rush to purchase airborne products. The reason is that the juice of the plant, if it comes into contact with the delicate skin of a child, can cause irritation.

A damaged plant emits an unpleasant odor, which can also cause an undesirable reaction.

If there is aichrizon in the house, then it needs to be removed away from the baby.

Where is the best place to put the plant?

Flower growers emphasize that when a leaf is damaged, an unpleasant odor appears. This is due to the poisonous sap of the plant. That is why the aichrizon should be located in places inaccessible to animals and small children.

In order for the tree of love to fully reveal its abilities, it should be placed on southwest windows. It is this location in the house, according to signs, that is responsible for marriage and love.

Attention! Indoor aichrizon, the photo of which is presented below, has good signs. To implement them, you need to provide the tree of love with proper care and attention.

Why do you dream about a flower?

If you do not have this exotic plant, and you dreamed of aichrizon, you should think about purchasing a tree of love. Most likely, this is a signal that the energy at home and family relationships needs to be improved.

If you have a plant that you dreamed of, take a close look at your green pet. According to superstition, such a dream often indicates that the succulent lacks care or is affected by some kind of disease.

Care

Home care for aichrison is simple and, as a rule, does not cause difficulties.

Lighting

The flower needs to be provided with a lot of light, but it is important that it be diffused.
To achieve this, you can block the pot with a curtain or a piece of loose fabric. When placing the dishes with the plant, it is recommended to place them on windows on the east or west side. To achieve uniform growth of all parts of the bush, it is recommended to periodically turn the container with it in a circle .

Temperature

Most of the time, it is enough for the air to maintain standard room temperature. In winter, the plant needs rest, so the temperature should be no more than 8-10 ° C - otherwise the branches of the bush will stretch out and the leaves will fall off.

Humidity and watering

Like other representatives of succulents, aichrizon does not require high air humidity and frequent watering. Thanks to the moisture accumulated in the parts of the plant, it will receive a sufficient amount of water every 3 days. In summer, it is recommended to water the bush with warm water, arranging a shower, but in winter it is prohibited to do this.

Before watering the aichrizon, you must pay attention to the appearance of the leaves. If they are dense and quite elastic, then the plant does not need watering.

It is necessary to water the flower when the leaf blade begins to lose turgor and becomes lethargic. This happens when the earthen ball is about half dry in the pot.

Rare but abundant watering of aichrizon often causes root rot.

Therefore, it is better to take a little water, since more damage can be done by waterlogging than by drying out the soil. In case of severe drying, it is necessary to water in small portions once every 2 days, monitoring the condition of the plant.

Pruning and crown formation

In order for the aichrizon bush to have a neat crown, it requires pruning. During it, weak and very elongated branches are removed, doing this in early spring. For greater splendor, plants pinch off the tops of young shoots .

Top dressing

In summer, the plant needs feeding once every 2 weeks. To feed the flower, you need to choose a fertilizer containing a low level of nitrogen.

Transfer

In order for the aichrizon to grow fully and bloom regularly, it needs an annual replanting (there is no need to take a wide container, since each subsequent pot should be slightly larger than the previous one).
To prepare the soil, you need to take 4 parts of turf soil and 1 part each of humus, sand and soil (preferably leafy soil). Before planting, a thick layer of drainage is poured onto the bottom of the pot, for which it is better to use expanded clay.
