Every housewife wants her cozy nest to seem completely different: homely and charming. Therefore, flowers can be made not only to decorate your gifts, but also to decorate your home, adding coziness to it. Get ready for a variety of colors that you can make yourself using your imagination. Anyone can master such a simple task; all you need to do is be patient, have the necessary materials, and follow the technique step by step. So, if you are ready to plunge into the world of mastery of volumetric flowers, then I will begin to tell everything step by step.

Unusual chamomile

The first option will be the easiest, it is perfect for children, and even for those who have not dealt with crafts. For this you will need: colored sheets of A format 4 scissors pencil PVA glue Procedure: Each sheet must be cut into strips and connected with glue. Then glue the blanks to each other one by one in a circle, as in the photo. Decorate the top with a bead. And now your first flower is ready, isn’t it difficult? But we don’t stop at the easy, we go further to comprehend the technique of mastery.

Process Features

To make artificial flowers, it is important to decide on several points. Namely:

  • color spectrum;
  • dimensions;
  • material used.

Aster

In the second option, we’ll try to make something more complicated. I suggest to your attention to make an aster from colored paper. Let's start creating. For this you will need: paper PVA glue Procedure: Take the paper and cut into circles so that the first flower is the largest and the last is small. Cut out the sharp leaves. We stick them on top of each other.

Thanks to this technique, the aster turns out lush. You can use one color of paper or several, making the flower more diverse. The core will simply be a strip twisted several times. We make sepals from green leaves. It turns out a lush beautiful flower. By the way, I immediately want to show how easy it is to make blanks that will be useful for subsequent flowers.

Flowers from foamiran

Large foamiran flowers look presentable and last longer than paper products. At the same time, working with the material also requires extreme caution.

To create a flower from foamiran, you need:

  • prepare the base of the required type (stem, core);
  • mark and cut out petals of different lengths, but similar shapes;
  • if desired, using a special stencil (mold) or a simple orange stick, you can make veins and patterns on the petals - for this, the material is preheated;
  • when the petals are ready, their edges are carefully curled and stretched to obtain a natural waviness;
  • the base of the petal is smeared with glue and attached to the stem or core.

The final decoration of artificial flowers can be painting, applying glitter or adding leaves. All you have to do is wait for the glue to dry and place the creation in the chosen location.

Roses

This example is suitable for postcards. The option with a simple rose will pleasantly surprise you. This type of technology is interesting to implement and does not require any additional costs. It's done very quickly. And I even present to you 6 ways to make a variety of roses. Option 1 For this you will need: colored paper PVA glue scissors pencil Procedure: Take colored paper and roughly draw spiral lines along it. We cut out a spiral along a given line in a circle. Then we twist the rose and glue the ends together. The rose turned out quite quickly and beautifully. This design will serve as a wonderful rainbow accent on the card.

Material

The materials most often used for the flower itself are paper (chalk, corrugated and other varieties), fabric, thin plastic and foamiran (foamy decorative material). In additional work (creating the stem and leaves), you can use wire, iron and wooden rods or plastic.

As a rule, the chosen material determines the technique used to create the buds. Decorations made of plastic and fabric require the greatest expenditure of materials and time. Having chosen them, you will need not only to stock up on an impressive list of tools, but also to have considerable experience in processing capricious raw materials.

In the case of paper or foamiran, such problems do not arise. Schemes for making large flowers can be easily found on the Internet, and to create a masterpiece, you just need to strictly follow the instructions.

How to make a paper carnation

Large carnation flowers from corrugated paper are made in the same way as small-sized crafts. In the step-by-step photo below you can see the easiest way to roll a carnation from a wide strip of red corrugated paper, the top edge of which is folded inward. Use your hands to work one side of it, stretching the soft and elastic material so that the edges are wavy and slightly flared.

Then the entire strip is wound onto the rod into a strong skein and tied with strong nylon thread. Wrap the floral tape over the tight bun, making a couple of turns, and around the wire stem.

If you get this version of the carnation, try collecting the flower from individual petals. Each is triangular in shape with a flared bottom and a carved top. There is a third option for assembling a flower by placing circles on the stem, cut into sectors into individual petals. The edges of the corrugated paper are cut into small corners with special scissors.

Textile dyeing technique

Dyeing fabrics before assembly includes several important rules:

  1. You should test the paint on a separate piece of paint in advance to see the result.
  2. You should remember the peculiarities of applying paint to artificial and natural materials.
  3. Before painting, the fabric should be thoroughly washed, dried and ironed to allow the fabric to shrink for the first time.
  4. Pre-wetting the canvas will make the coloring more uniform.
  5. All concentrated paints are pre-mixed with water in the palette.

To obtain a more saturated shade, you can add one drop of black concentrate to the paint. All petals are painted in the direction from the edge to the middle of the part (but this parameter is quite individual).

Fascinating Amorphophallus titanica

A rare creature of nature was discovered in the 19th century in the west of the island part of Sumatra. The natural growth of the plant in the wild has almost completely led to the extinction of the species in the tropical regions of South Africa, some Pacific islands and the Moluccas.

Modern greenhouses offer to admire this plant throughout the year, but the flowering time of this miracle of nature, which has the tallest (up to 3 m in height) flower cob on the planet, has a very peculiar smell. Most likely, it resembles the “incense” of rotten meat, which, however, does not scare away inquisitive tourists. Another call sign for the tallest inflorescence in the world is the name “snake palm” and “corpse flower”.

Victoria Amazon

A unique work of floristry has found its recognition on the wide shores of the Amazon. The largest aquatic plant can boast of the serious size of a kind of giant “saucer”, literally up to 2 meters in width.

The floral version of this work is nocturnal, blooming in the early morning hours. The morning dawn colors the petals of the water lily in pink, crimson and ultraviolet colors. Unfortunately, the intensity of the color affects the lifespan of the largest water lily in the world. Her nightly scent can drive any resident of the French colonies crazy. However, the inhabitants of the South American continent have learned to use this plant with its very useful fruits and roots for purely life purposes, consuming them as food.

Alien from Another Planet – Puia Raimondi

The unusual shape of the plant has rightfully earned itself the title of one of the strangest flowers in the world. The rocky splendor of the old platform of the Andes Mountains has become a refuge for the Latin American, with a height exceeding 10 m in its inflorescence. This opportunist easily takes root at an altitude above 3 km of sea level and is content with dry and rocky soil.

The use of the plant by local residents for economic purposes led to its practical extinction, which forced the authorities of South American states to include it in their Red Book and issue a lifelong protection certificate. An amazing species of peduncle blooms with the simultaneous opening of thousands of white flowers at about 75-80 years of life and dies immediately after the formation of fruits.

Dandelion

This spring flower, beloved by many, has two appearances that are radically different from each other. This is an early yellow variety that has thin, needle-like petals. This craft is easy to make. A wide strip of corrugated paper is cut on one side into long “noodles” and twisted around a rod in a manner already known to readers, described earlier in the article. If the flower will be held on a stem, then winding is done around a wire rod. Then the bottom of the roll of yellow paper is wrapped with a green strip, catching the top of the wire. At the end of the work, the entire stem is wrapped with floral tape to the very bottom.

It is much more difficult to make large flowers from corrugated paper with your own hands, as in the photo above. This is the second version of the late air dandelion. Let's take a closer look at how to make such a flower yourself at home.

Ideas for decorating a hall for a special event

In the life of every family, events occur with significant dates. These could be weddings, anniversaries, parties, presentations. They are held in spacious halls that can accommodate a large number of guests. To ensure that the design elements are harmoniously combined with the interior and the size of the room, you need to try.

Small flowers and appliques are not enough here. It is worth taking into account the geometric dimensions of the hall, height, presence of dead zones, aisles, and arrangement of tables. Be sure to provide a place where guests will take memorable pictures.

This place should have a special background color and decorative elements that match the theme of the event. A combination of huge, human-sized flowers and several separate small bouquets is encouraged.

A little-known African predator - the Hydnora

The diversity of the flora of our planet sometimes evokes the idea of a miraculous arrival from other, parallel worlds. One of the strangest flowers in the world is the African decorative hydrnora - the largest predatory flower. The plant prefers to grow in the driest regions of the continent. The main life of the plant passes under the ground cover and only after the rainy seasons does this miracle of nature decide to appear on the surface.

Externally, the flower part of the plant resembles a mushroom with a short stalk, of an inconspicuous brownish-gray hue. However, when its three fleshy petals bloom, it takes on the appearance of a wonderful massive flower with an unusually orange color on the inside. Unfortunately, all the most beautiful representatives of the flora are peculiar traps and, in essence, are carnivorous plants. The delightful Hydnora loves to attract insects with its not entirely pleasant aroma, which pollinate it, and then “snacks” them with pleasure.

Flowering plants with large flowers: list, brief description, photo

You can decorate your flowerbed with such flower plants with large flowers.

English rose

  • With their cup-shaped, fragrant flowers, English roses resemble ancient varieties. And these modern hybrid tea roses are resistant to various diseases, they are distinguished by a variety of colors and repeated or continuous flowering.
  • They are low, medium, high, curly, prostrate, thick, sparse. It's surprising, but different climate zones can give the same varieties significant differences.
  • Many English roses produce flowers with a diameter of 10 to 12 cm. Unfortunately, conditions unsuitable for English roses often lead to smaller buds.

Beautiful rose

Buddleya David

  • Numerous large inflorescences are densely located on this deciduous shrub. For more than a month it produces honey-scented flowers. Their colors are very diverse. The incredibly thick smell attracts all kinds of insects to this plant, for which buddleia is nicknamed a magnet for butterflies.
  • The shrub tolerates cold well (if the frost is not lower than - 20°C). It serves as a good background for other flowers, so buddleia will be useful in a mixborder or on a lawn. It is also good for camouflaging household buildings and pipes, and it also makes a wonderful hedge.

Inflorescences

Brugmansia

  • The homeland of Brugmansia is South America, the subtropics. Being a heat-loving plant, it does not tolerate cold weather, so it is quite difficult to “settle” it here in Russia. That is why bushes, or even small Brugmansia trees, are grown in greenhouses or on the windowsill of a house.
  • This plant is also called angel's trumpets because of the unusual shape of its tubular-bell-shaped fragrant flowers, 20 cm in diameter. There are many varieties of Brugmansia: their flowers, 50 cm long, are simple, double and two- or even three-colored.
  • During the flowering period, Brugmansia is covered with pink, green, peach, yellow, red, cream or orange flowers. Flowers of different shades may appear on the same plant.

Beautiful large plant with large flowers

Hydrangea

  • Everyone admires the large balls or panicles that cover the blooming hydrangea for a long time. You can decorate your garden with all types of ornamental plants with large flowers: tree-like, large-leaved, paniculate, oak-leaved, etc.
  • Just one single bush can make the whole garden attractive, and a hedge in your yard will turn out to be a real piece of paradise.

Incredibly beautiful hat

Dahlia

  • You can admire blooming dahlias from the second half of summer until almost the end of autumn (if the autumn is warm). Their bushes are covered with large flowers, and they can be of different shapes and colors, since there are a great many varieties of them.
  • In order to achieve lush flowering of these plants, you need to choose a sunny and protected from the wind place for them - at least, they should receive sunlight for 6 hours a day.

Incredibly beautiful flowering

Gladioli

  • All flower growers know about gladiolus, a tropical and subtropical plant that has long been popular among us. This sword flower suited our temperate climate, and flower lovers also really liked it.
  • Any cultivated soil is perfect for gladioli, but the best for them is light sandy loam, generously fertilized with humus.
  • In order for gladioli to bloom profusely, they should not be planted in the same place for two years in a row, otherwise they will begin to suffer from diseases. Gladioli bulbs should not be left in the winter; They need to be dug up in the fall and stored in the basement.

Gladioli

Gerberas

  • Gerberas bloom like large chamomiles; The petals of their flowers can be of a wide variety of colors, although there are no blue or black gerberas. This plant is a perennial, its flowers are 4 cm in diameter, and sometimes reach up to 15 cm - the size of the flower is influenced by the variety and type of gerberas.
  • But if suitable conditions are created for some of their species, it happens that their flowers reach a diameter of as much as 30 cm. Gerberas bloom for a long time - from 3-4 months. In a bouquet, gerberas do not wither for a long time.
  • Since these flowers cannot develop normally without heat and light, in cold climates the best place for them is in a greenhouse. For growing indoors, dwarf gerbera varieties are usually chosen.

Gerberas

Giant water lily (water lily)

  • The largest nymph in the world is called "Victoria Amazonica", and in Guyana it is considered the national flower; it even decorates the coat of arms of this country. If your summer cottage has at least a small pond, then you can grow this giant water lily in it.
  • For its good growth, it requires bright sunlight, water at least a meter deep and a temperature of 25°C. Since the climate in our central zone is quite unstable, it is quite difficult to grow “Victoria Amazonica” correctly. But among the nymphaeaceae there are less fastidious plants, whose “dimensions” are also very large.

Beauty for a home lake

Decorative sunflower

  • If you want to decorate your yard with a bright “sunshine”, do not forget about the decorative sunflower. It blooms in the summer, the stems are strong and tall (up to 2 m).
  • Thanks to these large blossoming “suns”, every garden will immediately become more comfortable and cheerful. For a sunflower to feel good, it needs to be planted in a well-lit place. When planting, you need to make 30-40 cm gaps between plants. Nowadays, quite a few varieties of decorative sunflowers have been bred, which gives everyone the opportunity to choose flowers to their liking.

Sunflower

tree peony

  • When these delicate, beautiful plants with large, bright flowers bloom in spring, the garden is filled with fragrance. Their scent is somewhat similar to the aroma of a tea rose - it is so subtle and refined that you want to inhale it for hours.
  • The bush is quite tall, numerous flowers bloom earlier than many other flowers. There are tree peonies in different shades, but our most popular ones are those with purple, red, crimson and pale pink buds.

Amazing smell

Tree-like Syrian hibiscus

  • This tropical plant needs good care, plenty of sun, permeable and nutritious soil. If such conditions are met, tree hibiscus can grow from 1.5 to 3 m.
  • The diameter of the flowers reaches from 10 to 12 cm. The color spectrum of garden plants with large flowers is very diverse: they can be white, yellow, red, purple, lilac, crimson; if you wish, you can become the owner of two-color varieties.

Hibiscus

Camellia

  • Camellia is an evergreen plant and belongs to the tea family. Florists involved in ornamental gardening often decorate the landscape with camellias, but tea is made from camellia sinensis - its leaves are used for this.
  • If your region has mild winters, then these plants can be grown outdoors, but if the climate is harsh enough, then winter gardens are suitable for them. The attractive double camellia flowers are enormous in size, with a diameter of about 12 cm.

Beautiful bush

Lily hybrid

  • Breeders are producing more and more new hybrid plants. Nowadays, amateur flower growers are keen on Oriental and Asian lily hybrids - LA, LO, OA, OT.
  • They can bloom for months, being covered with large and numerous flowers.

Lilies

Protea artichoke

  • This evergreen shrub has leathery leaves, and the flowers are large and hairy, up to 30 cm in diameter; blooms in cone-shaped inflorescences. It usually grows in height from one to three meters. His homeland is Africa, and South Africa even chose him as a symbol.
  • In our climate, it will not survive in the open air in winter, since it simply cannot stand the cold and will die. Because of this, Protea artichoke can only be grown in a greenhouse or room, and in the spring, when the air has warmed up enough, you can plant it in a flowerbed.
  • In spring and autumn, this crop requires an air temperature of 20°C, and in winter the room temperature should be 5-10°C. In winter, the protea needs to be provided with such coolness, since next season it will not please you with its color.

Protea

Imperial hazel grouse

  • The hazel grouse is quite tall; It gained its popularity among gardeners because of its showy flowers that bloom in late spring.
  • For 20 days, these yellow, white, orange, red or burgundy flowers will become a real decoration for your flower garden.

Grouse

Cannes

  • These 3 m tall plants have strong stems on which large pink, white, orange, yellow or red buds bloom in summer and autumn.
  • Cannas are distinguished by their unpretentiousness, are practically not susceptible to disease, and insect pests are not susceptible to these flowers. But in frosty conditions, canna will die, and for this reason, in the fall, its tubers will have to be dug up so that they lie in a ventilated room with a positive temperature until spring (a basement or cellar is perfect for this purpose).

Tall flowers

Clematis

  • Clematis is a liana, and when it blooms, densely dotting the trellis with its color (and this can happen in any warm season, it all depends on the type of plant), then you can admire it for a very long time. But it is simply impossible to take your eyes off the large-flowered clematis hybrids, the diameter of whose flowers ranges from 15 to 20 cm.
  • Such hybrids include: Asao, Arctic Queen, Andromeda, Barbara Dibley, Cassiopeia, Hagley Hybrid, etc. Such unpretentious species of clematis as Vititsella, Atragene, Integrifolia and Jacquemant take root well here - they are distinguished by their rapid growth and resistance to disease.

Beautiful climbing plant with large flowers

Calla lilies

  • During flowering, kala produces an unusual cone-shaped flower that does not wither for a whole month, and the large leaves of the plant only highlight its beauty.
  • Calla lilies should not be left to overwinter: its tubers must be dug up and stored in a place where it will be dry and dark until spring, and the temperature will remain around 5°C.

There are 3 types of ornamental plants with large white flowers, and you can grow all of them on your own site:

  • Ethiopian calla lily - blooms only in white, the size of the flower can reach 15 cm;
  • Remann - its height is about 70 cm, the flowers have pink or lilac shades;
  • Eliot - its height is about 50 cm, has large green speckled leaves, their shape is unusual - heart-shaped. This calla produces flowers that are mostly yellow.

Beautiful white flowers for the garden

Celosia

  • Celosia is part of the amaranth family, its homeland is warm countries, and for this reason it can only grow in our country as an annual.
  • Its flowers are located in large inflorescences; from a distance, it seems as if the whole plant is covered with flaming multi-colored lights of scarlet, red, golden, yellow or pink.

Large flowers

Evening primrose

  • Evening primrose is sometimes called rapunzel or moonflower. It is a perennial vine. Her favorite time of day is dusk, as that is when her petals open. This is done with such incredible speed that you can see the whole process without any technical devices.
  • There are different types of this beautiful vine. An uninitiated person may confuse it with a large morning glory. The diameter of an evening primrose flower grows from 10 to 15 cm. The flowers can have a variety of colors, and they all smell pleasant.

Yellow flowers
Naturally, in order to be able to deal with such large plants, you will need not only your time and careful care for them, but also a sufficient plot of land. But the flowers listed above are so beautiful that they would be worth planting as a contrast between their miniature and delicate counterparts.

Step-by-step job description

For work, prepare the following materials:

  • white corrugated paper;
  • wooden skewers;
  • small foam ball;
  • wire for the stem;
  • floral paper for wrapping it;
  • scissors;
  • PVA glue.

Next, we’ll look at how to make a three-dimensional flower from corrugated paper. First, prepare a large number of white strips. Their width depends on the size of the flower. One side is cut into small “noodles” and rolled around a wooden skewer. To make it also white, it can be painted with acrylic paint or simply covered with thin tape along its entire length.

Forcefully push the prepared elements into the foam ball. To prevent them from falling out later, drop a little hot glue into each hole. Attach thick wire to the bottom of the ball to make a stem. The base can be left white or spray painted green. As you can see, making large flowers from corrugated paper with your own hands is not so difficult if you know all the intricacies of this work. Many craftsmen are afraid of the gigantic size of the work and refuse to even try to collect a large flower. In fact, the execution of both large and small volumetric flowers are very similar to each other. So try it without fear! Everything will definitely work out!
