Wonderful violet Lyon's Little Sweetheart (S. Sorano)

When purchasing some varieties of Saintpaulia, you need to be especially prepared . These include Rob's Vanilla Trail, which belongs to the camp, trailer semi-miniatures.

Despite the unpretentiousness of violets, mistakes in caring for them can be fatal.

Due to its small size, its diseases progress quickly and lead to the death of the plant. Therefore, it is important to study all the nuances associated with care.

Violet Pink Mint (S.Sorano)

Mysterious violet Pink Mint.

The author who registered the exquisitely delicate trailer variety is Sidney Sorano, an outstanding master of selection from the Sorano family clan.

The variety was bred in the family's Lyndon Lyon Greenhouse greenhouses in the town of Dolgeville (New York, USA), which since 1982, after the retirement of the founder of the beautiful family business, Lyndon Waldo Lyon, has been successfully managed by his grandson Paul Sorano .

An excellent variety was bred by Sidney Sorano.

The trailer variety of violet is recorded in the genus Saintpaulia , which is part of the extensive Gesneriaceae family.

The rosette of the presented variation of ampelous violet is included in the system of subspecies of semi-miniature sizes , and according to the structure of the corollas, the plant is simultaneously included in the subcategory of varieties of double appearance.

Saintpaulia's rosette is very strong.

Photo and description of violet Pink Mint

The richly climbing violet worthily represents the class of varieties that are classically in demand among fans of trailers, since its specimens are quite widespread in private collections.

The violet, after final strengthening in the form of an adult plant, can look like a small-sized, reasonably densely and neatly arranged spherical bush or a specimen with a neat arrangement in a flowerpot of several branches created by the highlighted “heads” of Saintpaulia.

level gradient of semi-miniature scale for the Saintpaulia trailer .

The variety belongs to the semi-double subspecies.

ATTENTION! The violet remarkably quickly acquires a chic varietal silhouette. An important feature of violet growth is its calm and easy character: an aristocratic-looking rosette forms independently, Saintpaulia does not make any claims to slight fluctuations in agrotechnical conditions. For this variety, for a more luxuriant decorative appearance of hanging bushes, it is possible to remove excess branches or redirect their growth in the desired way.

The violet has extremely small-sized leaves that stand out :

  • Textured quilting smooth - matte layer;
  • The design of elongated oval “hearts” with a clearly visible presence of a sharply shaped end;
  • And graphically - with a pressed pattern of venation, attracting attention with a sparse structural pattern.

    The leaves of this variety are small.

The edges of the straight leaves are practically devoid of teeth . The texture of the plates is somewhat soft. Sometimes there is a slight bending of the tips of the leaves towards the flowerpot.

INTERESTING! The color of the leaves of the trailer violet bushes is maintained in medium-dark variations of the green palette. The reverse side of the leaves has a pinkish tint.

Regular flowering of the variegated violet begins after the silhouette of the rosette has been completed and manifests itself in the form of rapid development on each “head” of abundantly dense caps of flowers with a terry-stuffed mass of petals in the corollas.

Varietal trailer Saintpaulia is characterized by:

  • A fairly long and abundant process of blooming of double flowers, allocated to the “star” segment;
  • And also the slight waviness of the texture of the corollas and the artistic variability of their color within the boundaries of pink.

It’s wonderful - the large corollas have slightly wavy petals with a sparse fringe along the edge, the number of which creates a feeling of dense filling of the flower caps.

A special feature of the trailer is the long process of bud opening , during which the corolla takes the shape of first a bell and then a voluminous ball. In young Saintpaulias, the buds may not fully bloom.

NOTABLE! The color scheme of Saintpaulia corollas is based on a combination of various variations of shades of the pink palette from almost white to delicate pastel colors. The petals are intricately tinted with delicate shades of a greenish palette, and their edges are decorated in the form of the finest green veil.

Violet doesn't know how to play sports .

Saintpaulia has no sports.

Reviews

Anna, Lyubertsy. “I used to have this variety. It never produced bouquet flowering. But I probably had a second line of this variety, since the leaves are completely bare, without hairs. Now I’m raising children.”

Violetta, Kyiv. “The plant cannot be grown in large pots, otherwise the rosette will grow to enormous sizes, but the flowers will remain the same. When replanting, just shake the soil from the roots and add fresh soil. The composition of the soil should be such that the lump of earth does not become compacted. First of all, I exclude peat from the composition.”

Sergey, Tomsk region. “You shouldn’t expect any unpleasant surprises from this variety. He always gives a full bouquet of flowers. Until the last buds bloom, the first ones will not fade. So they stand in a dense bouquet. Each new bud is looking for a place where it can fully bloom.”

Caring for violets in a home microclimate

Specimens of the varietal variety of violets in indoor gatherings demonstrate a very problem-free nature :

  1. The windows that are most beneficial for violets are those that are on the southeast side – here the plants are most illuminated:
      The windows on the south side of the house are better illuminated in winter, but in summer severe overheating is noticeable there, which threatens the plants with burns. Therefore, it is recommended to slightly shade the windows during midday heat;
  2. Windows in the eastern and western directions are classified as semi-shaded; here the sun's rays are available to violets only in the first half of the day;
  3. Northern windows are the worst suited for placing violets, and then only if they are equipped with additional lighting.
  4. Watering the variety should not be done too often, while at the same time making sure to monitor the drying of the top layer of the substrate in the flowerpot;
  5. with mineral fertilizers at a particular time or not, showing their internal state with a decorative appearance. In the same way, you can find out the plant’s need for certain types of fertilizers. But this procedure of agrotechnical care cannot be abused;
  6. An important role in the life processes of specimens of the variety is played by the optimal lighting regime with a well-chosen structure. For proper growth and healthy flowering, it is necessary to combine long-term illumination of the plant with a natural spectrum with exposure to LED lighting;
  7. The possible temperature gradient is within +20 + 24°C; it is important to prevent its extraordinary surges and cold drafts;
  8. Timely provision of violets in the home collection with fresh substrate is a necessary condition for maintaining the health of the specimen - this will ensure aeration and water permeability of the soil. In addition, a good drainage system is needed;
  9. For replanting, it is more correct to use “transshipment”, although it is only suitable when working with healthy violets.

Features of development and flowering of the variety

When keeping a trailer variety in collections, flower growers note the absence of negative flaws in its “upbringing” , rich flowering, and also ease of breeding.

Among the successful features of the author’s presentation of the variety, the following should be highlighted:

  • Ease of independent growth until attractive rosette outlines appear, and, if desired, ease of creating the desired silhouette;
  • A fantastic combination of an ampelous rosette with pink and green openwork flower caps;
  • Enviable diligence during flowering;
  • Excellent well-being with all types of watering;
  • Numerous newly formed buds and stepsons.

    Violet has many advantages.

Flower growers classify Saintpaulia as a variety that has virtually no disadvantages; but it is important to pay attention to :

  • Slowness of the bud opening process in some lines;
  • Slight tendency for leaves to bend towards the flowerpot;
  • The beginning of flowering after compaction of the rosette;
  • The need to create intense lighting.

Problem-free propagation of the variety is ensured by the good education and development of the children .

The decorative appearance of flowers remains unchanged in different microclimates of the collections. Although cooler conditions bring out the greenish reflections on the petals more vividly.

CAREFULLY! The variety bears its buds on persistent but elongated peduncles, which bend under the load of voluminous caps.

The violet blooms with a lush hat.

Trailer violet has extremely dense silhouettes of rich caps.

The lifespan of violet corollas is about one and a half months .
